(Reuters) - Zale Corp on Wednesday reported a modest bump in third-quarter same-store sales and said the former chief executive of its biggest rival, Kay Jewelers parent Signet Jewelers Ltd , will be its new chairman. Terry Burman, who was Signet`s CEO from 2000 to 2011 and oversaw large U.S. market share gains that came partly at Zale`s expense, will take up the post next Friday, Zale said. (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc`s quarterly profit just missed Wall Street expectations on Thursday, with sales down 1.4 percent at its Walmart U.S. stores open at least a year. The world`s largest retailer said U.S. sales suffered from a delay in income tax refund checks, cool weather, less grocery inflation than expected, and the payroll tax increase. Shares of Wal-Mart fell 2.3 percent in premarket trading to $78. The stock had hit a new high of $79.96 on Wednesday. CAIRO (Reuters) - Seven members of the Egyptian security forces kidnapped by Islamist militants in the Sinai Peninsula last week were released on Wednesday, the army said. Security sources said they were freed following talks mediated by local Bedouin tribal leaders. The men were handed over to the army in an area south of Rafah, near the border with Israel.
