World - Poll shows Brazil`s Rousseff would win presidential runoff

Brazil President Dilma Rousseff would win a second-round runoff against either opponent and has 38 percent of voter support ahead of her October re-election bid, a new poll by the IBOPE polling institute showed on Tuesday.     Her main challenger, Aecio Neves, has the backing of 22 percent of potential voters while Eduardo Campos has 8 percent, according to the survey broadcast on TV Globo. The changes in voter intention for all candidates are within the poll`s margin of error from June, when Rousseff had 39 percent of support, Neves had 21 percent and Campos 10 percent, suggesting Rousseff`s support is not eroding as other recent polls have suggested. The approval rating of her government remained at 31 percent, unchanged from a month ago when Brazil was starting to host the month-long soccer World Cup. Her personal approval rating was also unchanged at 44 percent.

World - Iran nuclear talks to resume in early September: state TV

Iran said on Wednesday nuclear talks with six world powers would resume in early September, according to state television, after both sides agreed to continue talking for four more months to try to reach a final agreement on Tehran`s nuclear program. `The extension of talks shows this is a positive atmosphere,` Iranian foreign ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said during a weekly press conference. Iran says it is only refining uranium to fuel nuclear power plants or research reactors, not to develop a nuclear weapons capability as the West suspects. The six powers - the United States, France, China, Russia, Germany and Britain - want Iran to reduce its uranium enrichment program significantly to make sure it cannot produce nuclear bombs.

(Reuters) - NFL television analyst and former coach Tony Dungy backed off on Tuesday from comments he `wouldn`t want to deal with` the diversions arising from drafting the league`s first openly gay player, saying he was referring to media attention surrounding such a move. Dungy, who was head coach of the Indianapolis Colts when they won the Super Bowl in 2007 and also coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, had aroused criticism over the remark about defensive end Michael Sam, which was published in the Tampa Bay Tribune on Sunday. `Not because I don`t believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play, but I wouldn`t want to deal with all of it.` `It`s not going to be totally smooth ... things will happen,` he added.

Major US, European and Canadian airlines cancelled flights to and from Israel after a rocket fired from Gaza struck near its main international airport in Tel Aviv. Delta, US Airways and United Airlines heeded the order, with Delta diverting a Tel Aviv-bound Boeing 747 with 273 passengers and 17 crew on board to Paris.
