World - Who will pick the carrots if Brexit stops migration?

By David Milliken KELLINGTON, England (Reuters) - As farmer Guy Poskitt looks across a field of pumpkin seedlings, he worries how he will get them planted and picked in future if Britain votes next month to leave the European Union and closes the door on migrant workers. `I cannot run my business without migrant workers,` Poskitt said after a team at his Yorkshire farm had finished planting thousands of seedlings which will grow and ripen in time for Halloween. Such workers are a major factor in Britain`s June 23 referendum on staying in the EU, where laws mandate freedom of movement.

World - As EU vote looms, migration to Britain nears record high

By Costas Pitas LONDON (Reuters) - Net migration to Britain reached its second highest level on record in 2015, according to the final set of official data to be released before an EU referendum in which the number of new arrivals from Europe has driven much opposition to the bloc. Net migration, the difference between the number of people entering and leaving Britain, hit 333,000 in 2015, the second-highest level for a 12-month period since records began in 1975, the Office for National Statistics said. The numbers were seized upon by those campaigning for Britain to vote to leave the EU in a June 23 referendum, who have blamed the bloc`s freedom of movement rules for high levels of immigration.

World - Far more donations to `Out` than `In` ahead of UK`s EU referendum

By Estelle Shirbon LONDON (Reuters) - Groups campaigning for Britain to leave the European Union have pulled ahead of those urging Britons to remain in the bloc in the race to raise funds, the Electoral Commission said on Thursday. Britons will vote on June 23 on whether to remain in the 28-member EU, the world`s largest trading bloc, a choice with far-reaching consequences for politics, the economy, defense and diplomacy in Britain and far beyond. Opinion polls have given conflicting steers on which way the referendum might go, with telephone polls suggesting `In` is comfortably ahead while online polls suggest a tight race that `Out` could win.

World - Eurotunnel boss sees no Brexit impact, was joking about duty free boost

By Dominique Vidalon and Pascale Denis PARIS (Reuters) - The boss of Eurotunnel said on Thursday that Britain leaving the European Union would have little impact on the under-the-English-Channel business, dismissing as a joke his prediction last year about getting a boost from new duty-free shopping. Chief Executive Jacques Gounon also told Reuters in an interview that he was expecting higher second-quarter sales for Eurotunnel - which runs under the water between England and France - because of the Euro 2016 soccer tournament in France and thriving freight trucks traffic. `I do not see a visible and identifiable impact on Eurotunnel`s business from a British exit`, Gounon said, referring to Britain`s June 23 referendum on EU membership.

World - EU should keep promises to Turkey, or Ankara will cancel agreements with bloc: Cavusoglu

ANKARA (Reuters) - The European Union should keep its promises or Turkey will cancel agreements with the bloc, including a deal to take back migrants, Turkey foreign minister said on Tuesday. `It`s not realistic to treat Turkey this way after it took such important steps. We can put aside all the agreements we signed, and this is no threat or bluff,` Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told state-run broadcaster TRT Haber. Cavusoglu added he would discuss visa-free travel for Turks to Europe with the deputy head of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, this weekend. ...
