World - Ukraine in critical need of second IMF aid tranche: PM

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk urged the International Monetary Fund on Friday to release the next tranche of a $17 billion loan and bemoaned the heavy cost of fighting a pro-Russian rebellion in the east. Ukraine has complied with conditions for the two-year aid package, which is intended to shore up depleted foreign currency reserves and support the state budget, but the country faces risks due to the eastern conflict, the IMF has said. Ukrainian troops and pro-Russian rebels have been fighting since April in the heavily industrialized regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, which together contributed nearly 17 percent of Ukrainian gross domestic product in 2013. Analysts have said the Ukrainian economy will slide deeper into recession this year, despite the IMF aid deal, as the rebellion cripples activity in the industrial east and scares off foreign investors.

World - Costa scores again as Chelsea snare Foxes

Diego Costa scored for the second match in succession as Chelsea made it two Premier League wins from two matches this season with a 2-0 victory at home to newly-promoted Leicester City on Saturday. After a goalless first half, Chelsea twice almost took the lead at the start of the second period. Oscar hit the far post with a curling shot from the right before Branislav Ivanovic`s header was well saved by Kasper Schmeichel, son of former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter. Leicester, who held Everton to a 2-2 draw last week, then had a chance of their own when David Nugent burst clear only for the Foxes striker to be denied by Thibault Courtois, again preferred by Jose Mourinho to Petr Cech, when one-on-one with the keeper.

World - Corrupt Chinese hiding in Western nations elude Beijing`s `fox hunt`

By Sui-Lee Wee BEIJING (Reuters) - When Yang Xiuzhu got wind in 2003 that Chinese anti-corruption investigators were looking into her affairs, she boarded a flight to Singapore. China filed an arrest warrant through Interpol for Yang, a senior official who oversaw construction projects in the booming eastern province of Zhejiang. She was eventually detained in Amsterdam in 2005, but nearly a decade on, China has yet to get her back despite protracted negotiations with the Netherlands. Yang`s case and others like it underscore the challenge for President Xi Jinping as he expands his already far-reaching anti-corruption campaign to tracking down suspects who have fled abroad, often taking their ill-gotten gains with them.
